Swine flu update

The World Health Organization has raised the influenza level to Phase 5, which means a pandemic could be imminent.

While there have been no reports of swine flu at Fresno Pacific University, we are closely monitoring the situation in our community, the region, the state and around the nation. We remain in close contact with the appropriate public health and safety authorities and will keep the campus community informed of any new developments.

It is vitally important that all of us be vigilant, caring for our health. The Centers for Disease Control have connected the following symptoms with swine flu: fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people also experience diarrhea and vomiting.

Swine Flu

There is no indication that the highly publicized swine flu will affect any of our campuses. However Fresno Pacific is taking precautionary measures to protect our students, faculty, staff and on-campus guests in the event the virus makes its way to our Valley.

According to public health officials, washing your hands is the single most effective preventive measure against the spread of disease. Wash your hands often with anti-bacterial soap, and use instant hand sanitizers (i.e. Purell) in between. The university will supply offices, classrooms and individuals with instant sanitizers.
